Foot Care

Chiropodists can treat many foot conditions, including: calluses, corns, plantar warts, hard to cut toenails, fungal nails, ingrown toenails, and wounds. These conditions usually require more than one visit for complete resolution. The chiropodist will use a combination of tools, medication, and offloading (ie. change in footwear, padding, orthotics) to help resolve your issue as quickly as possible.

Common Conditions Treated:

  • General treatment for ingrown toenails involves cutting back the ingrown portion of the toenail, followed by nail cutting advice and home foot soaks. For alternative forms of treatment, please see specialty services "Nail Avulsion Surgery" and "Onyfix Nail Bracing".
  • General treatment for fungal nails involves drilling down the infected nails and prescribing a topical antifungal medication to be applied daily for a minimum of 4 months up to 2 years. For an alternative form of treatment, please see specialty service "Toe Fx Clear Toe Therapy".
  • General treatment for plantar warts involves debridement of the lesion followed by the application of a strong acid or blistering agent to destroy the warty tissue. For an alternative form of treatment, please see specialty service "Swift Microwave Therapy".

Foot Pain

Chiropodists can assess your feet to determine the cause of your foot pain, then provide a variety of treatment options such as custom-made orthotics, footwear advice, padding and taping. For a list of products that we carry, please see "Products". For an alternative form of treatment for foot pain, please see specialty service "Foot Mobilization Therapy".
